The Queen of Cocktails Rules The Weekend

4-1-2011  |  On Tap Magazine

The Bloody Mary base at Alexandria’s Jackson 20 is also made fresh every weekend – no mixers. Bar manager Woods Morrison incorporates habanero hot sauce, Tabasco and olive juice into the blend, as well as boutique sea and smoked salts from the kitchen. Morrison says he and the rest of the staff love Old Bay, which shows up in the mix and on the rim. The salts pairs well with the smokiness of the grilled ham in Jackson 20’s Eggs Benedict and the Baltimore spice mix also shows up in the restaurant’s Eggs Chesapeake, made with Virginia crab cakes. A standard Bloody goes for $8, but the price varies if a top-shelf spirit is requested.”
